28.5 Million Party Hosts are Uninsured
The insurance journal reports that out of the 28.5 million party hosts about 75% of them DO NOT have a personal umbrella and are leaving themselves vulnerable to lawsuits and financial disaster. Even if you have $500,000 liability that won't be enough to cover all the legal fees, jury awards, and health care costs that could occur.

Vehicle Safety
Auto safety before the "Crash". Purchasing the right vehicle for you or your family is an important decision. Not only should you be concerned with the look, the feel, and the gas mileage, but you should also look at safety. Luckily today, most newer vehicles are equipped with air bags and anti-lock brakes. But you may wish to check out the safety ratings of specific vehicles and the annual cost of insurance before making your final decision.

Don't drive when....
  • You're upset or cannot stay focused on your driving.
  • You have taken alcohol or drugs.
  • The weather is bad. Snow and rain increases the chance of having an accident.
  • Don't drive unless you and all occupants are wearing seat belts.
  • Watch distractions, the use of cell phones, eating, having too many people in a vehicle, playing with your radio or CD player can increase your risk of having an accident.
  • Lastly don't drive a vehicle that you are unfamiliar with, especially at night.

Warning New I.D. Fraud Scam

Most of us take summons for jury duty seriously, but enough people skip out on their civic duty that a new scam has surfaced. CBS reports that if you fall for it, your identity could be stolen.

In this con, someone calls pretending to be a court official who threateningly says a warrant has been issued for your arrest because you didn't show up for jury duty. The caller claims to be a jury coordinator. If you protest that you never received a summons for jury duty, the scammer asks you for your Social Security number and date of birth so he or she can verify the information and cancel the arrest warrant. Sometimes they even ask for credit card numbers. Give out any of this information and bingo! Your identity just got stolen.

The scam has been reported so far in 11 states, including Oklahoma , Illinois , and Colorado .

This (scam) is particularly insidious because they use intimidation over the phone to try and bully people into giving information by pretending they're with the court system.

The FBI and the federal court system have issued nationwide alerts on their websites, warning consumers about the fraud.

Effective March 1, 2005 Minnesotans are allowed one free credit report every 12 months. To order your free report, click on the links below.

Important: You are not required to sign up for credit monitoring services to get your free report. In addition we do not feel that these monitoring services are necessary and for most people it would be a waste of money.
